Chiranjeevi to announce his party on August 17th
Film star Chiranjeevi is finally coming out to put an end to months of speculation about launching of his political party in Andhra Pradesh and is now ready to unveil his party’s name, agenda and other details at a press conference on August 17. This will be followed by launching of the party at a public meeting in Tirupati on August 26 to coincide with the birth anniversary of Mother Teresa.
He started his political journey by formally inaugurating his party’s office in Jubilee Hills on Sunday night more as a family affair. His brothers and other family members, besides fans and few leaders were present.
This has has intensified political activity in his camp. Congress MP Ch Hajirama Jogaiah, who has been supporting Chiranjeevi’s political entry since beginning is expected to resign from Congress party and also for his Lok Sabha membership on August 17, immediately after Chiranjeevi announced about his party.
Several political leaders, mostly prominently from Telugu Desam, who had resigned from the party in recent months will join with Chiranjeevi at Tirupati public meeting.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Paladugu Venkata Rao lamented that film star Chiranjeevi enterering politics with an eye on the Chief Minister’s post so as to serve the interests of his family and close aides. He dubbed the proposed new party as a `family affair’.
Speaking to reporters , he said that there will be no democracy in the proposed party. In fact, he charged that it would be a Fascist party. He alleged that the film star is lacking a clear vision on various issues including the naxalite problem and land issues.
“Does his brother Nagendra Babu and others, who are vigorously campaigning for him know, what life in villages is like? Do they have understanding of the State’s economy?” he asked. The former minister said that the film star is being misled by his aides who think that politics is a bed of roses.
