Euro Cup 2008 is all set to begin on Saturday, June 07, 2008 at Basle, Switzerland’s St Jakob Park. The tournament will get underway, with the first match being played between host Switzerland and Czech Republic. The European Championship features numerous teams that look capable of winning the title this year. However, three time champions Germany seem to be the favorite this year, even though the team hasn’t won a European final tournament match in the past 12 years.
The 13th European championship will be played in both Austria and Switzerland. The final match of the tournament will be played at the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna on 29 June. Defending champions Greece too will be ready to prove in the tournament that their stunning and surprising soccer triumph four years ago in Portugal was no fluke. World champions Italy is another title contender but has been hindered by the injury loss of reliable Captain Fabio Cannavaro.
At the Euro cup soccer lovers will witness the clash of the titans with best sixteen teams fighting it out for the prestigious title. The participants of the Euro Cup 2008 will be Czech Republic, Switzerland, Turkey, Portugal, Poland, Germany, Croatia, Austria, Netherlands, Romania, Italy, France, Spain, Russia, Sweden and Greece.
