Heavy rains lash Andhra Pradesh; 28 dead
HYDERABAD: Heavy rains lashed several parts of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday that led to house collapses and inundation, killing at least 28 people in the last 24 hours.
Several incidents of building collapses were reported from Hyderabad city where 10 people died. Krishna district accounted for five deaths followed by West Godavari four, Guntur and Medak three each, Visakhapatnam two and Nalgonda one.
Normal life came to a standstill following rains since last evening inundating low-lying areas in the districts of Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam, Ranaga Reddy and Krishna.
The state capital has received 20 cm of rainfall since Friday evening throwing normal life out of gear as rainwater entered houses in low-lying areas.
