100 secret cameras to keep watch on public places
HYDERABAD: A special control room with 25 men would be set up at the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate office building, Basheerbagh, to operate 100 surveillance cameras being installed at different public places.
The secret camera surveillance system would be operational probably from January 26, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh told reporters here on Thursday. Twenty five men would work at the control room in each shift.
Each camera can be panned, zoomed and tilted from the control room and would be useful for the police to monitor agitations, processions and traffic flow. On an experimental basis, four cameras are being affixed on the Rakshak mobile vehicles. “If this move gives good results, the facility would soon be extended to all Rakshak vehicles, Mr. Singh explained.
Already, the cameras were used for recording visuals of some processions and the footage was produced as evidence in a few cases. These cameras can function during low light and are helpful for live coverage of processions.
