Ek Niranjan Movie Review

What’s it about!

Chotu (Prabhas) is estranged from his parents at a very young age. He grows up to become a bounty hunter – by handing over criminals to the police and earning money from it. His continues search for finding his real parents (played by Tanikella and Sangeeta) but in vain. He happens to meet a guitar teacher Sameera (Kangana) and love ensues between them. On other hand, a local dada Johnny Bhai (Sonu Sood) hires a killer to shoot off a minister. What is the link between Chotu and Johnny Bhai and how Chotu tries to find his parents is told in rest of the film.

Analysis

If you have seen Puri Jagannadh’s films, you would know his style of presentation and how his heroes behave. By now, we can identify his brand of ‘narration’. Ek Niranjan is simply an excessive fest of clichés – from Puri’s past films. Puri Jagan tries to hold the audiences interest by super dialogues rather than the super script and narration. First half is racy but it suffers heavily in the second half with unnecessary comedy track and lack of driving points in the script. Sonu Sood’s character entirely drives the film. Also the film has resemblance to Chiranjeevi’s Kodama Simham (like Chiru trying to find the whereabouts of his parents; Sudi Gaali character here is played by Deshpande) and also has traces of Bujjigaadu’s plot line. In Bujjigaadu, Bujji’s sole aim is to find his childhood lover. In Ek Niranjan is goal is to search for his parents.

Script wise the movie is nothing but run-of-the mill fare. Only some lighter moments and good songs hold the film’s interest. On the whole it is just any okay movie.

Performances

Prabhas looks stylish and he exudes energy throughout the flick. He has done justice to the role. Kangana who makes her debut in Tollywood with this film does a very glamorous role and her unconventional looks might not go well with the Telugu audiences. But you cannot fault her performance. Sonu Sood steals the show as perverted villain. His characterization itself is novel and Sonu Sood’s performance provides enough laughter in the second half. Brahmaji does equally good with him. Comedy track by Brahmanandam, Ali and Abhinaya Sri is totally waste. Rest of the cast is okay.

Manisharma’s songs are good to hear but they are not that effective on screen. Shaam K Naidu’s cinematography looks richer. Editing by M.R.Verma is not upto standard. Puri Jaganandh once again scores as dialogue writer than director. But it is the time that he should re-check at his selection of scripts. After Pokiri, he has not come up with film that can make him proud or make audiences feel satisfied.

Bottom-line

Ek Niranjan is just an okay film. It can be time pass film.

Rating: 3/5

Review of Neninthe

December 20th, 2008 by pandu

Ravi (Ravi Teja) is a struggling Assistant director , Sandhya (Seiya) is a group dancer, falls in love with Ravi, Yadu (Supreet) is a goon who troubles sandhya, later Ravi helps Sahdhya to become a heroine, Sayaji Shinde done a producer role, Sai Ram Shankar played a fans president of Mallik (Subbaraju), how finally Ravi completed his first directorial debut titled ‘Neninthe’ with Mallik and Sandhya is the rest of the story.

Ravi Teja comes up with passive performance compared to his earlier films, he is good in emotional scenes like where Sai Ram Shankar calls from a railway track. Seiya is curvy and suitable for her role. Mumaith Khan rape episode looks off the wall, Sai Ram Shankar’s episode only stands out from the film. Subbaraju, Sajaji shinde, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav gave decent performance. Supreet done good job as rugged villain.

Neninthe is all about film industry, no doubt it’s a self-assured film from Puri Jagannath. unlike his earlier films you cant expect entertainment from this film, the people who relates to Telugu Film Industry can easily understands the dialogues and Satires than common audience, it has some good emotional and touching scenes and also some scenes with no reason. He not even disclosed any major dark secrets.

Chakri’s music is good for listening, Varma’s editing is adequate, fight’s by ram-lakshman are okay. The Producer is really commendable for making this film.

As he himself mentioned, that the tollywood is in2% success rate, how can NRI people spend their money on the rest of 98%, with out watching reviews? And we don’t know how many websites he encouraged for his past films by giving money. Blaming the same industry, which he is currently living is lamentable.

On the whole, first half of the film is passable, second half is failed to impress, but the film had more potential at Box Office, as it’s a superhit combo of Puri and Ravi Teja. Most of his earlier films got devide talk on first day, even this one. So, we have to wait and see how long stands at BoxOffice.

‘Mohanbabu is the best’ among all the heroes says Puri

April 1st, 2008 by V

Mohanbabu who is always in news with some controversy is a dedicated and disciplined actor. Though he speaks out of his heart and that sometimes hurt others Mohanbabu always remained an entertainer both on screen and off.

If there are many people who find faults in him, there is also good number of admirers for this versatile actor. Mohanbabu has been working with current generation directors in the recent past. After playing Yama in Rajamouli’s Yamadonga he is doing a vital role in Puri’s Bujjigadu. Rajamouli spoke so much great about the great actor’s discipline and time sense while he was working for Yamadonga, and now it is Puri’s turn to praise the great qualities in Mohanbabu.

“I’m happy and comfortable working with Mohanbabu. There is no other hero who made me so happy. It might hurt the other heroes’ feelings who had worked with me in the past, but what I’m saying is the fact. There are many good qualities in him which other heroes don’t have. Mohanbabu comes to the sets at sharp 7′o clock in the morning. He gives respect to the producer and director. He will switch off his mobile when on sets and also asks for my permission when he wants to make a call. Who will ask for director’s permission for making a call… that too in these days?” Puri Jagannath said in an interview.

Well, that is something younger generation heroes have to take out of Mohanbabu’s book.
