Aasman Se Gira, Bigg Boss mein atka!

It’s the final day of the task and the housemates are eagerly waiting to finish the task. Looks like the housemates have actually realized that water is indeed their lifeline –quite of few of them haven’t taken their bath for past couple of days, using fewer vessels in order to avoid washing of utensils so that they can conserve as much water as possible. But now the housemates have had it enough and want Bigg Boss to start regular water supply.

Meanwhile Raju as usual is busy entertaining the housemates with his funny antics. Today, he gets into the fire fighter avatar and joins Vindu, Vinod and Pravesh in their fight against the water shortage.

Later, Bigg Boss calls Claudia and Pravesh in the confession room to announce yet another punishment for them for again conversing in English. Bigg Boss informs them despite several warnings in the past they have been still talking in English and therefore both of them will not be allowed to talk to each other till further notice. Claudia and Pravesh get disappointed by this punishment but soon find another way to interact with each other i.e. sign language.

Soon after this the task alarm rings, instead of completing the task, the housemates sit back perhaps because they have already stored enough water for the day.

While with all this happening, Rohit is as usual busy influencing housemates in his favor and reiterating his tale of being backstabbed. This time he first approaches Aditi and then Pravesh to apologize for whatever he has done. But, looks like Pravesh is in no mood to forgive and forget and ignores Rohit.

As the day comes to a close, the housemates breathe a sigh of relief when Bigg Boss announces the conclusion of the weekly task. Later, all the men in house get together and speculate who could be next surprise entry in the Bigg Boss house.

Hearing them talk, Bigg Boss actually decides to have a surprise entry –a person dressed in space suit actually lands in the living area much to the housemates’ surprise!

This is what we call ‘Telepathy’ perhaps!

Who is this new person and how will the housemates react to this little surprise?

India wants Myanmar to act on insurgency on border

February 8th, 2009 by V

Mandalay (Myanmar), Feb.8 (ANI): India has asked Myanmar to act on the information provided by it about the activities of the insurgent groups having their bases along the India-Myanmar border.

Minister of State for Defence M. M. Pallam Raju on Saturday told reporters in Mandalay that the military junta of Myanmar had been asked to cooperate on combating insurgents.

“It is strategically important in terms of trading potential that exists with Myanmar and also our own security implications. Because lot of insurgent groups operating in the northeast have their bases on the Indo-Myanmar border and they keep coming in, causing havoc. We are getting the government (Myanmar) to cooperate on those things,” said Raju who accompanied the Vice President, Hamid Ansari as a member of the delegation that concluded its four-day visit to Myanmar on Sunday.

The Minister of State for Defence informed media that New Delhi had bee giving arms and ammunitions to Myanmar to fight insurgents despite the fact that both the nations were not having any formal defence tie-ups between them.

“No defence tie-ups but we do give them lot of aid in terms of arms and ammunitions and things like that but apart from that there is no formalised Defence tie-ups,” Raju added.

Indian delegates said economic ties were in focus during Ansari’s talks with the Myanmar leadership.

“Basics are the economic ties. We have to strengthen in terms of economic (ties) that we share with Myanmar. I think we have to focus that and the port is also open, so it’s a good thing,” said Agatha K. Sangma, a member of the India delegation.

India shares a 1,645-km (1,000-mile) border with Myanmar.

India says around 3,000 rebels, live and train in the camps inside the jungles of Kabaw Valley of Myanmar’s Sagaing Division.

India has a pact with Myanmar to share intelligence, but officials say it is not enough to stop the insurgency. By Ravi Shankar (ANI)

Satyam scam prompts Advani to call for ethics in business

January 10th, 2009 by V

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Jan.10 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the party’s prime ministerial candidate in the forthcoming general elections this year, L.K.Advani, on Saturday said ethics and values are inseparable elements of every business.

Advani was speaking at the global summit of the Jain International Trade Organization (JITO).

Commenting on the financial fraud of IT major Satyam Computer Services,he said business without ethics is a sin.

“Once, Gandhiji (Mahatma Gandhi) had said that business without ethics is sin. Business needs values and ethics and, if a few business organizations indulge in unethical practices, they bring a bad name to the business community as a whole,” said Advani.
On Wednesday, Ramalinga Raju, the chairman of Satyam Computer Services admitted that about a billion dollars, or 94 percent of the cash and bank balances on the company’s books at the end of September did not exist.

The scandal had cast a cloud over foreign investment in Asia’s third-largest economy and over its once-booming outsourcing sector, which posted stunning sales growth for years and lavished investors with handsome returns.

According to a party press release, he also called Jainism the most ancient Green Movement in world history.

He pointed out that most people do not often appreciate why Jainism attached such paramount importance to ahimsa. However, two of the greatest challenges before the world today–Terrorism and Climate Change–are both manifestations of violence.

He added that “terrorism is of course the most extreme and inhuman form of violence. But there is another form of violence which the world has been much slower to recognize, and much more hesitant to take firm action against.”

Referring to the violence being inflicted on the Earth by our materialistic civilization,Advani said that only “when we reflect on the challenge of Climate Change that we begin to appreciate the enormous contemporary relevance of the Jain philosophy of ahimsa and jiva daya. We realize that Bhagwan Mahavir and the other Jain Tirthankars were great environmental conservationists.”

“They taught us that we human beings are merely trustees of this planet. We need to re-learn their teachings in our times.” He further added that “eco-friendliness is not a mere fashionable phrase; it has to be interwoven into our development paradigm and also into our day-to-day living,” he added.

Terming pollution as another face of violence, he said that pollution has catastrophic implications for human beings and other species on our planet.

“Pollution has caused a big problem in the form of global warming and climate change, and pollution itself is another form of violence, and it is as grave as militancy. It is the duty of the society as well as administration to counter both (militancy and pollution) forms of violence,” said Advani.

A recent study conducted by US researchers reveals that the warming climate is likely to put affect crops and livestock and could cause serious food shortages for half the world’s population.

In a way “all (of us) have to become adivasis or tribals who know how to exist in harmony with the earth,” he concluded.

He promised that in the event of the BJP and the NDA forming the next government in New Delhi, appropriate steps to deal with both forms of violence-Terrorism and climate change would be given the top priority.

He also urged the government to take bold and quick steps to revive the economy out of the recessionary crisis. (ANI)
