Hema Malini after coming to production is leaving no stone unturned to re-launch her daughter Esha Deol in ‘Oh Khuda’. Just recently we came to know about the development of her project that she has roped in four veteran Cinematographers to shoot separate portions of the film’s four actors. Now it has been heard that Arjan Bajwa of ‘Fashion’ fame has been roped in to play the lead opposite Eesha Deol for the movie.

The last time Arjan was seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’ playing a fashion model and now Arjan is all set to play the role of a uber cool photographer from New York in Hema Mailin’s next production. On asking Arjan, he replied, “It’s a really cool role and I am quite excited on being a part of this project. I am also extremely happy that its Hema-jis project, which is coming after such a long time. We will be starting the shoot very soon and I am even learning the basics of photography to essay my role better.”

Grant Appleton, Hayk Kirakosyan, Carlos Catalan and Burak Turan are the four cinematographers who will be working on the film. Burak Turan will shoot Esha’s scenes with Rishi Kapoor in Turkey. Vinod Khanna’s scenes will be shot in Rajasthan. The four cinematographers will give a distinct feel to each of the parts.

The plot for ‘Tell Me Oh Khuda’ is very similar to Hema Malini’s previous directorial venture– ‘Dil Aashna Hai’. When this was pointed out to the director of ‘Tell Me Oh Khuda’, Mayur Puri, he simply stated that both films are about a quest. He narrated three to four ideas to Hema Malini and she liked this one the most.

Bollywood Glitters At Subhash Ghai’s Birthday Bash

October 26th, 2009 by V

Subhash Ghai

Subhash Ghai

Subhash Ghai hasn’t been called the Showman for nothing. On his 65th birthday on Saturday evening Ghai pulled off what the original Showman Raj Kapoor had done in Mera Naam Joker. In the declining year of his long and chequered career Ghai invited all the actors from all his films beginning with Kalicharan and concluding with Black and White and Yuvraaj in 2008.

From the newbies like Katrina Kaif and Zayed Khan (Yuvraj) to the more senior stalwarts like Rishi Kapoor, Tina Ambani (Karz) and Reena Roy (Kalicharan), they were all expected to make the evening memorable for the filmmaker.

The breathtaking guest list that was expected to be seen at the Hyatt read like the who’s who of the Mumbai entertainment industry. From Ghai’s close friend and adopted family members Shatrughan Sinha and Punam to foe-turned-friend Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor to Vivek Mushran and Apoorva Agnihotri and Anurag Sinha….all the successful and not-so-successful Ghai heroes were expected to be present at an evening of nostalgia and retrospection.

Then of course there was the gallery of Ghai’s heroines from Manisha Kaoirala and Mahima Chowdhary to the more recent discoveries Isha Shravani and Aditi Sharma, the ladies were all expected to be present.

Ghai had sent out personal hand-written letters to ALL the invitees, a la Raj Kapoor in Mera Naam Joker. Two of the most significant Ghai heroines Meenakshi Sheshadri and Madhuri Dixit couldn’t make it as they live abroad.

The star-spangled night promised to bring Dilip Kumar, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan under the same roof.

Said Ghai on the morning of the big bash, “But it wasn’t about the stars. It was about my emotional tie with the people I worked with. Ideally I’d want all my actors and technicians to be there. I’ve invited everyone not to show off and talk about my films, but to share a quiet evening with the people who contributed to my life.”

Coincidentally (one would hope) Shilpa Shetty decided to get engaged on Saturday at her fiancé Raj Kundra’s residence, the same evening when Subhash Ghai planned the biggest bash of his evening inviting the A (Anil Kapoor) to Z (Zayed Khan) of the film industry to share his moment of glory.

Guests common to both the functions were put into a quandary, specially so since the timing for both the events was the same.

Adnan Sami who was invited to both the functions intended to attend both. “I can’t miss Subhashji’s function. I’m not only an artiste associated with his cinema I’m also a part of Mumbai’s entertainment industry. He is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures of the Indian entertainment industry. At the same time it is the most important day of Shilpa’s life. So I’ll scamper from the one to another.”

Another actor however had no intention of extending such generosity over his time. “Who is the more glamorous and happening host of the evening? Who wants to watch an over-the-hill filmmaker preening over his past glory?”

There is a lot of brouhaha over Abhi and Sonam Kapoor as a fresh new on-screen couple but in fact Abhishek shares a better chemistry with Rishi Kapoor. We hear, Abhishek Bachchan bonded very well Rishi Kapoor while shooting for Delhi-6.Rishi Kapoor plays a wealthy Muslim man and treats Abhishek as his own son in the film, bonded real well Abhi off-screen too.

A unit member reveals that both Abhishek and Rishi Kapoor used to play Pool in their free time during the shooting of the film. “Rishiji used to beat Abhishek in Billiards as he is a very good player. Both used to chat during the shoot breaks. They both are foodies thus used to binge on Karim’s delicious biryanis and kebabs during their shoot in Chandni Chowk,” revealed a unit member.

“I was equally excited about (working with) Chintu uncle (Rishi Kapoor) because he was my childhood hero. If there was anybody after dad for me, it was Chintu uncle.

So there I was, with one of my childhood idols. Guess what; he didn’t let me down at all in terms of whatever I expected of him in the screen space I share with him in the film. He is sheer brilliance. He is so effortless yet stylish and just the class with which he pulls off his performances is commendable and makes you very envious.

The film releases today… lets see what fate holds for this film!

Hrithik gets lucky by chance, flees from bottle-throwing fans!

January 1st, 2009 by bharani

Zoya Akhtar’s debut flick ‘Luck By Chance’ hit some ruff patches recently. Hrithik Roshan, who plays an important character in the flick, was mobbed by fans at a shooting locale.

Apparently, the mob could not control its excitement at the sight of the bodylicious star and started throwing mineral water bottles at him to grab his attention. Well, that’s some soggy hospitality Hrithik received.

Zoya was rumoured to have cancelled the shoot after such a hue and cry.

“Some onlookers were so excited that they started throwing mineral water bottles at Hrithik. The excitement of the crowd in India can sometimes reach dangerous levels and this was one such incident”, a source was quoted as telling a news agency.

Sources claimed that Hrithik had to literally flee from the venue with the crowd chasing him even as he drove away.

Director Zoya confirmed the incident but clarified, “Hrithik was mobbed. It was very scary. However, we completed the shoot and did not have to change the venue.”

‘Luck By Chance’ stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Farhan Akhtar in lead roles with Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan, Isha Sharvani and Sanjay Kapoor in special appearances.

Here’s hoping Zoya releases the flick without more of such mobbing. She seems to need much luck with such a constellation for the cast!

The excitement of learning separates youth from old age. As long as you’re learning…you’re not old.

Well, that’s exactly how you can describe the evergreen garden-fresh Neetu Singh Kapoor, whose face stands as the cover-girl of ‘Good Housekeeping’, the premier magazine of house keeping! Aamir’s comments on Himesh

December 22nd, 2008 by pandu

Many people felt that Aamir Khan’s remarks on Himesh Reshammiya’s marketing strategy and his trademark cap were sarcastic, but the musician-actor, who admits to being a fan of the star, chooses to take the seeming compliments on their face value.

“If Aamir has spoken so well about me, I won’t even think of questioning it. I take his words as a big compliment. I’ve been hearing some terrific stories about his dedication from (director) John Matthew Mathan. I must say he’s very inspiring,” Reshammiya told IANS.

At a press conference on Thursday, Aamir went out of his way to praise Reshammiya, calling him a master of marketing. “So much so that wherever and whenever I see a topi (cap) I think of Himesh,” said Aamir.

But many thought Aamir was being sarcastic by praising Reshammiya for his marketing strategy at a time when it (the strategy) seems to have collapsed. His “Karzzz”, a remake of 1980′s Rishi Kapoor starrer “Karz”, bombed despite all the publicity gimmicks.

“Or did Aamir praise Reshammiya because he is playing a role inspired by Aamir?” asked one of Aamir’s co-stars.

Reshammiyya is in Palanpur, Gujarat, busy shooting for Mathan’s new film “A New Love Ishtory”, in which he plays a big Aamir fan.

“I am a huge fan of Aamir Khan. And what a coincidence that I’m shooting for a film where I play a tapori who’s a big fan of Aamir. The role is inspired by Aamir’s ‘Rangeela’. In fact, my director is Mathan who directed him in ‘Sarfarosh’. Both of us just can’t stop talking about him,” Reshammiya said.
