London, May 27 (IANS) Footballer David Beckham’s relationship seems to be getting stronger with actor friend Tom Cruise as he often seeks advice from him.

‘For someone who has been in the public eye for so long, David is still not the most confident when it comes to speaking out. He’s very shy,’ femalefirst.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

‘He has spoken to Tom among others about how to motivate people. Tom is a confident guy and always gives him great advice. David wants to be able to do the same, whatever the circumstances are,’ the source added.

This is not the first time David has sought advice from the actor. Last year, Tom and his actress wife Katie Holmes advised the Beckhams – David and his wife Victoria – on how to maintain a healthy balance between work and married life.

London, Mar 23 (ANI): Bruce Willis has tied the knot for the second time.

He got married to model Emma Heming in a Caribbean island ceremony attended by his ex-wife Demi Moore and their three daughters, his spokesman has said.

Moore, whose 13-year marriage to Willis ended in 2000, married actor Ashton Kutcher, 31, in 2005.

The spokesman said that Kutcher also attended the event in the Turks and Caicos islands, reports the Telegraph.

Heming, 32, is a model for the racy ‘Victoria’s Secret,’ line of lingerie.

According to US television, A-list celebrity guests included Queen of Pop Madonna. (ANI)

London, January 17 (ANI): Katie Holmes managed to strike an almost exact pout made famous by her pal Victoria Beckham as she posed for fashion giant Miu Miu.

The actress was said to have picked up style advice from the former Spice Girl while she featured in the line’s Spring/Summer 2009 campaign.

The two had hit it off when the Beckhams’ moved to LA and Katie’s designer friend had allegedly poured some influence on her, reports the Sun.

Tom Cruise’s better half also had full support from the ex-singer, while she made her Broadway debut with “All My Sons” in September last year. (ANI)

Washington, Jan 13 (ANI): English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen’s joke on Madonna and Guy Ritchie at the Golden Globes on January 11 failed to make the star-studded audience laugh, and instead earned him boos.

Cohen, 37, who had stepped out on stage to present the Best Comedy award to Woody Allen’s Vicky Christina Barcelona, had been entertaining the crowd with jokes about the recession and its effects on Hollywood.

He was still doing fine with his one-liners about Victoria Beckham and Charlie Sheen, but when he touched on Madge’s divorce from Ritchie, saying that she had fired her “personal assistant” due to the recession, the crowd was not amused.

“Madonna has had to get rid of one of her personal assistants. Our heart goes out to you, Guy Ritchie,” Contactmusic quoted Cohen as saying.

London, January 13 (ANI): Friends of Victoria Beckham fear her obsession with “perfectionism” is taking its toll on her health.

The singer-turned-fashion designer, who shed a lot of weight in the late Nineties and has never gained it back, was said to be suffering from fatigue while taking a Christmas and New Year break with hubby David Beckham.

“Victoria is feeling rather low and tired at the moment,” the Daily Express quoted a source close to the couple as saying.

“David fears her blood sugar is low constantly because she eats so little and it also leads to her waking up three or four times in the night, which means she never has a perfect night’s sleep.

“She claims her sleeping problems and fatigue are often due to jet lag but David feels she needs to eat a more rounded diet and ‘stuff in some carbs’.”
“Victoria is doing well in the fashion world but she’s a perfectionist and as soon as she achieves something she needs to achieve the next thing so her sense of happiness and achievement doesn’t last very long,” added the source.

“She needs to feel close to her husband and three sons to give her a sense of happiness but lately she has been so busy and sleep-deprived she’s not been feeling totally that way,” the source added. (ANI)

Hobart, Jan.12 (ANI): Australian fast bowler Doug Bollinger hopes he won’t be snubbed for Australia’s tour of South Africa next month, despite a number of his rival quicks getting the chance to shine in front of selectors in the limited-overs format.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Bollinger is relying on his one and only Test appearance in Sydney to assure him a plane ticket to South Africa.

Bollinger took 2-131 on debut against the Proteas and was unlucky not to have taken more wickets.

The 27-year-old has tonight’s Twenty20 clash against Tasmania at ANZ Stadium, another Twenty20 clash against Victoria on Saturday and a Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania at the end of the month to enhance his Test prospects.

“I thought I went all right in Sydney, it was a good experience for my first Test and hopefully I get a couple more,” Bollinger said.

Captain Ricky Ponting said after the gripping victory in Sydney: “It’s pretty hard to change winning teams, isn’t it? That’s generally the way it is and I don’t think there will be too many changes (for South Africa).”

Bollinger formed a good partnership with Peter Siddle in Sydney and, with Mitchell Johnson, proved that two left-armers can exist in the one pace attack. (ANI)

Melbourne, Jan 11 (ANI): Star baby names like Cruz, Shiloh and Maddox are becoming increasingly popular among new parents in Queensland.

According to the figures released by Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, babies named after those of Hollywood celebs have significantly increased last year.

The most popular celebrity baby name was Cruz. Nearly 48, babies were named after David and Victoria Beckham’s third child and 46 babies were named Brooklyn after the couple’s first son.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s tots’ names were also popular, with 22 new Queenslanders named after Shiloh last year, 10 were named Maddox and seven Zahara.

Another twenty were named Rocco, after Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s son, while three babies were named Suri after Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’s daughter.

One couple has also named their tot after Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow daughter Apple.

Southern Cross University associate professor of media studies Karen Brooks said the increase in celebrity baby names was “a sign of the times”.

“We were all once part of a more religious culture and hence a lot of our names came from kings, queens, saints and heads of state,” the Courier Mail quoted her as saying.

“But now with the emergence of a more secular society, we see more and more people looking up to celebrities – it’s just a natural evolution of names,” she added.

However, Brooks said parents should be wary not to name their child for the wrong reasons.

“A lot of parents want to give a name which makes their child stand out, but naming a child after a celebrity might do the opposite, because it’s more a nod to the celebrity than to the child themselves,” she said.

“What some parents don’t realise is that a name can become heavy baggage for a child in later life, especially as a lot of celebrities are focussed on for the wrong reasons,” she added. (ANI)

London, Jan 10 (ANI): In a rather spoofy take on the lives of David Beckham and wife Victoria, a musical comedy based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth has hit the stage in Dublin.

Titled ‘MacBecks’, the musical traces the story of Posh and Becks, told in jokes, song and words of few syllables.

The play, featuring one of the great celebrity romances of the current age was premiered at the Olympia theatre in Dublin on December 7.

Written by Gary Cooke and Malachy McKenna, the musical has Posh as Lady Macbeth for whom David sacrifices his career.

While Paul Reid plays the role of MacBecks, Kelly Gough, described by the authors as “drop-dead stunning”, plays Poshoria.

Described as a “wild comedy romp,” ManBecks is set in 16th-century England, where football is beginning to emerge as a popular pastime.

But the game dominated by players who are, in Cooke’s words, “baldy ugly” with “lumpy legs and turny-up shoes”.

Much of the action takes place in Ye Olde Wag’s Head Inn, where the Bard is a “boozy failed writer and aspirant footballer”.

“In our conceit there are three Spice Witches, one of whom is Poshoria, who create Becks because of the dire need for a good-looking player,” Times Online quoted Cooke as saying.

He added: “There’s a Sir Alex Ferguson-type character we call Salax, who’s a mix of King Lear and the Devil. It’s a kind of love triangle because he’s fighting with Posh over Becks.”

Later, the story moves from England to Europe and eventually reaches a happy ending in the New World, where Becks is paid hundreds of millions of groats instead of the measly few sheep and goats he received at home.

The play also features a woman “not dissimilar to Rebecca Loos”, a model once linked to Beckham.

Other characters include three Spice Witches, the devil Sir Alex Ferguson, Rebecca Loos and Sven-Goran Eriksson.

“It’s a rip-roaring barrel of laughs which sees Alex Ferguson try to steal MacBecks away from Poshoria,” said McKenna.

Reportedly, Posh and Becks are desperate to find out details of the production and the creators hope that their real-life hero and heroine will certainly oblige the play with their appearance.

“They have been invited. Funnily enough, I don’t think we have had a response so far. But I’m sure that they will want to know what it’s about,” said Cooke.(ANI)
